Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she was a kid, she went to her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. From the age of six Emma knew she was going to become an actress and for many years she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught singing dancing and acting. From the age of 10 she was involved and performed the main role in numerous Stagecoach School plays and productions. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that, after auditioning for eight times they and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's debut film appearance came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film is 2001's top grossing film, breaking records on opening day and first weekend. Critics were impressed with the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma's performance was nominated and won five awards later for the film.
